The Alliance was formed by seven charities that wanted to work together to improve health benefits for charities and those that work for charities in Bermuda. The seven charities are: The Family Centre, Age Concern, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bermuda Council for Drug Free Sports, National Dance Foundation, The Centre on Philanthropy, and PRIDE. This group has decided to make the benefits of the Alliance available to nonprofit members of The Centre on Philanthropy.
An RFP was sent out to several providers requesting information about medical, dental, and vision coverage, business lines policies such as theft, general liability, and contents insurance, indemnity coverages such as Short and Long Term disability, Group Life, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Pension management. Three providers responded to the RFP and presented to the group of seven. From these meetings, Colonial was chosen as the provider of choice given their willingness to customise solutions and their general interest in the Third Sector.

Colonial is providing Alliance members with a number of additional benefits free of charge:A term life insurance policyAn accidental death and dismemberment policyDiscounts on personal lines (car, bike, home insurance) to membersDiscounts on business insuranceAccess to personal financial products
These additional benefits are being offered through the Custodian Club.
Colonial will also provide workshops to Alliance members on a number of personal financial and health issues during the next year.
